# Authentication

## Get Your API Key

You will need to create a ScoreDetect account.

1. Visit the [Register page](https://www.scoredetect.com/register) here, and **sign up** for an account:\
   <https://www.scoredetect.com/register>
2. However, if you have an existing ScoreDetect account, you can log in instead.
3. Once you have logged into your account, you can now retrieve your **API Key**.
4. Visit the **Settings** › **API Key** screen.
5. Copy the **API Key**. Make sure you keep this secret — treat it like a password.

Your **API Key** will look something like this:
