Identity (ID) Verification

Why is Identity (ID) Verification required for ScoreDetect?

We require identity verification for all of our ScoreDetect accounts so that we can ensure the authority of the accounts and their associated certificates. The ID verification will only be required when setting up your ScoreDetect account. It will not be used for any other purpose besides ensuring the validity of your ScoreDetect account with us.

This is to solidify all your ScoreDetect account's existing and future certificates with next-level authority and compliance from our official IDV provider Idenfy.com.

How do I set up my ID verification on my ScoreDetect account?

When you create a ScoreDetect account, you will automatically be redirected to begin your ID verification process. This is simple and typically takes around 1-2 minutes to complete. There is a time limit of around 10 minutes to complete the process to also help avoid bots and fraud.

As part of the ID verification process, you will be asked to display your government-issued ID or valid document, as well as perform an active facial recognition check, to help confirm with our IDV provider on the authenticity of your identify. This is hosted externally on Idenfy.com servers. ScoreDetect retains a scan reference ID so that we can delete your associated ID verification within Idenfy.com should you wish to terminate your ScoreDetect account. There is no other ID verification data saved on ScoreDetect servers.

Once the ID verification process is completed, you will then be directed back to ScoreDetect to complete the onboarding process of your ScoreDetect account.

Why do I need a government-issued ID for my ID verification?

You need a government-issued ID for verification because it is a standardised and reliable way for a company to confirm your identity, prevent fraud, and comply with legal regulations like Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) laws. These documents provide a consistent and secure method for verifying that you are a real person and not a fraudster using a fake or stolen identity.

Key reasons for using government-issued IDs

Fraud prevention: Government IDs or Documents are crucial for preventing fraud, identity theft, and the creation of fraudulent accounts by verifying that the person is who they claim to be.

Regulatory compliance: Many industries, including the content authenticity at ScoreDetect, enhance regulatory compliance by legally requiring to verify customer identities to comply with strict KYC and AML regulations.

Identity confirmation: The ID provides a way to confirm your ownership of the ScoreDetect account. This ties into the ScoreDetect terms and conditions where we ensure all ScoreDetect accounts creating Verification Certificates must be legitimate owners of the content being timestamped to the blockchain. This ensures veracity of the claims made.

Security: This process helps ensure the security of the ScoreDetect platform and protects both the company and its legitimate users from the risks associated with identity fraud.

How secure is the ID verification process? Is my ID verification stored securely? How is it done?

ScoreDetect uses encryption at rest and ensures that the entire ID verification process is run through HTTPS only, strictly forced by our web platform. You will be directed to Idenfy.com to complete the ID verification process on the Idenfy.com servers and only then return to ScoreDetect if there is either a success or fail result from the ID verification process.

ScoreDetect will then only retain a "scan reference ID" and this is used to ensure that we can delete your ID verifications within Idenfy.com when you wish to terminate your ScoreDetect account.

This will be stored in the ScoreDetect database — a SOC 2 Type 2 compliant database.

How can I delete my ID verification?

The ID verification will be deleted immediately once you decide to terminate your ScoreDetect account.

This can be done by visiting the ScoreDetect Dashboard › Settings › and scroll down to delete your ScoreDetect account.
